10 Tractors

10 Tractors, Hand Quilting
10 Tractors Red Ribbon - Adult
I found a barn block at an estate sale so I bought it because I had never seen one before. I could not figure out how to replicate it, and I could not find a pattern. So, I pulled out graph paper and made my own. After about five renditions I was satified. I chose the barn colors based on my travels throughout the US and while I love a red barn, when I find other colored barns, my heart sings. I purchased the animal embroidery from a friend after not being able to find fabric that suited the inside of a barn. I debated on filling all the barns with tractors, but the animals were too cute to deny a barn, so they were added, too. I chose an hombre for the sky to capture the seasons while still giving continuity. My sister suggested I cut the roof fabric so the tin would lay like a normal barn roof. A family member or friend (I forgot who - sorry!) suggested barb-wire for the borders, and I finally found that in Utah. This project was in my head for about 4 years and I am excited that it became a quilt over the course of the last 8 months.
