290 Connection - DISQUALIFIED
Our quilt is titled 290 Connection. Highway 290 is a major highway that connects Austin, Texas to Houston, Texas; and Lee County is situated in the middle between the two major cities. Highway 290 has been the highway traveled by the people competing at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Go Texan Events for many years. So in a sense, Highway 290 has helped connect individuals and youth with opportunities that they may not have had otherwise, should they not have experienced or competed in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Go Texan Events. Lee County has had winners in several of the Go Texan Events, Scholarship winners and winners with the youth showing their animals or projects. The scholarship program is an awesome way for so many youth to be able to continue their education. The list of youth that have received scholarships is overwhelming and Lee County is proud to be able to play a small part in that. The experience and knowledge that these individuals and youth gain when competing in these events is something they will never forget and something that will help them in their future. Thank you Highway 290 for being the connection from our small county to Houston, Texas; you have helped the youth of our county by being able to connect them to Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Go Texan events; which in turn has offered them valuable lessons for life and for the future.
