At the center of the quilt the base is made up of 6 vintage linen napkins. The borders and the backing are both improv pieced using vintage and modern cotton, linen, upholstery fabrics and lace. The top is layered with both vintage and new doilies that have been sewn on by hand after the quilt was machine quilted.

Susie Black is a 5th generation resident of Aransas County. She is a retired business owner and lifelong community supporter. Susie has been sewing and quilting her entire life. In the last ten years she was drawn to modern, improv, and art quilting. Her favorite thing is to work with unwanted vintage and repurposed items to bring them back for a second life. She is the modern day fabric artist and vintage revivalist.
